Who would have thought? The unsociable, private and withdrawn Kristen
Stewart modelling for one of the most recognized brands in the world:
Chanel. Yet it has happened and we knew it was happening around December
time, when Stewart attended the annual Chanel Metiers d'Art 2014 show
held in Texas. As she posed for the fashion press and a throng of
paparazzi, Karl Lagerfeld himself announced to the world that this
upcoming actress would be the face of the Metiers collection, much to
our surprise.
A fashion show fit for a cowgirl, this Chanel
collection was most defiantly centered around the cowboy vs red Indian
fantasy. Fringed boots, studded belts, pretty frilled skirts and painted
leather jackets... Only Chanel. The show was wonderful and so full of
character, and now, in mid 2014, Stewart herself is plastered across
billboards and magazines worldwide wearing those exact clothes. It's
not that I don't like Kristen Stewart, I just find her very moody,
ungrateful and just generally looks like she'd rather be anywhere else
than where she is now. She got on my nerves in the twilight movies and
also in the critically acclaimed Snow White and the Huntsman, and her
cheating on Rob Pattinson with a man twice her age was just...
disgraceful. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I've got her all wrong but the
way the media portray her is not exactly flattering, is it?
Yet,
for this latest Chanel collection, Stewart embodies the all American
woman, with her hair slicked back in braids and dark eye make up adding a
touch of mystery. She is photogenic and Lagerfeld must have clearly
known that, as these campaign shots are great, simply shot against a
wooden backdrop allowing the clothes do all the talking (and
persuading!) As for Stewart she follows in the footsteps of Nicole
Kidman, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively and Vanessa Paradis as famous
Chanel celebrity models, and is sure to go on to do Chanel make up and
most likely perfume, No. 5 of course.
So what do you think of
these latest Chanel ad campaign photographs? Are you for or against
Kristen Stewart? I started writing this post firmly against the notion,
but now after looking at the photos more closely, I'm all up for
persuasion...
