Milan Fashion Week - Day 1

After the catwalks of New York and London, attention has now turned towards the stylish Milanese fashion capital and the start of a whole new week of shows! I love Milan Fashion Week just because it's so different to any other runways. There's more glamour, more style, more sophistication, more sex appeal...basically more everything!

London showed some pretty impressive spring summer 2015 catwalk shows. Burberry gave something new with fur and denim being key themes of the collection, while digital print gurus Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto strayed firmly away from any pattern whatsoever, instead opting for tailored pieces with minimal colour.  I loved the Amanda Wakeley show, full of lovely wearable white seperates to suit your whole spring wardrobe. Joseph was also another surprise collection, with knitwear, tailored trousers and minimalist chic sweeping through all pieces of clothing. Tom Ford (one of my fav designers) once again went all out for grungy, va va voom style, with a collection full of black seperates with many daring side splits and bondage strap dresses. Christopher Kane, Erdem and Simone Rocha were other great collections that made me proud to be British, proud to live in London with such amazing fashion trends. I also loved the extremelly cool Topshop Unique collection which had quite a sporty theme running throughout. So, what are the key trends emerging? Well, pastel colours, bold block tonals with a hint of 70's boho, denim jackets and dresses and flat sandals - thank goodness! Summer sure does look inviting!

Gucci - But, its on to Milan now and the shows coming our way pretty soon! Frida Giannini at Gucci went all 70's chic, a period of history which she has visited before as creative director of Gucci. There were silk, patterned shirts, fur gilets in autumnal colours and flared denim jeans giving way to strappy sandals and tan leather boots. Burgendy, yellow, white and blue were the main colours in this collection with some lovely khaki colours coming through too. A fantastic collection to kick off procedings in Milan. Bellissimo!

Alberta Ferretti - Similar to Gucci, this fashion label also went for 70's chic, but with a more romantic feel in nude, brown and cream colours. It reminded me of John Lennon circa 1972, all flower power and peace! However, it was still a magical show full of pretty dresses and wonder!
