Philip Lim
Khaki colours ruled the roost at Philip Lim, with a strong military theme running throughout the collection. Grey check suits were also included as well as a sense of geek chic with trousers pulled up high and large black shoes were clompy and unelegant - in a good way. The coats were the real key pieces, with long navy styles, shaggy fur jackets and large hooded fur parkas in that same khaki green. I loved all the autumnal hues and the relaxed feel of the collection.
Rodarte
Kate and Laura Mulleavy have built a brand evolving around Gothic beauty, think the Corpse Bride mixed with a little grunge and delicate femininity. This collection was another classic Rodarte number, packed full of floaty chiffon, lace paneling, white fur coats and plenty of warrior spirit. Believe me, you wouldn't want to mess with the Rodarte girl this season. She was a little Navajo and a little Victoriana mixed in together, with dark lips and free flowing hair. Watch out!
Jeremy Scott
As always with Mr Scott, this was a collection packed full of fun! And an ode to the swinging 60s. From the latex mini skirts, colourful knee high boots and big Brigitte Bardot hair to the fishnet tights and musical references, it was psychedelic and extremely cool. Karlie Kloss opened the show with a smile, rocking a blue outfit with abstract guitar strings along the middle, and was accompanied by a number of crazy looks which included look-a-like Roy Lichtenstein prints and pink Dalmatian coats. It's always nice to mix things up at NYFW, and who doesn't like a bit of fun every now and then.
Vera Wang
I don't usually pay much attention to Vera Wang, but this show really caught my eye. From the opening black dress as worn by Mica Arganaraz to the combustion of khaki outfits that followed this was a show which was simple yet fierce. Black suits came loose but stylish, long maxi skirts with thigh high splits added a touch of sex appeal while the gold metallic detailing was a nice bit of detail. The bottle green jacket worn with black army boots was a real highlight as were the black straps tied around pieces of material on the hip.
Diane von Furstenberg
It was real party which lasted almost an hour at Diane von Furstenberg on Monday. Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk, Lily Aldridge and Karlie Kloss all posed for pictures before the show, in bright 70s outfits with plenty of boho chic. Kloss rocked the runway and closed the show in a floor length gold metallic dress, Kendall looked amazing in a slim fitting jumpsuit while the use of prints, patterns and layering looked every inch the DvF lady. Not to mention her classic wrap dresses which made an appearance. As always, DvF brought the party to New York in some style.
Carolina Herrera
I hadn't really thought much of Carolina Herrera, but after last season and again this season, her clothes are truly breathtaking and beautiful. I loved her floor sweeping dresses, the tailored white trousers paired with fur coats, the soft pastel colours in mint green and pink as well as texture play of materials. Karlie again made 2 appearances, opening and closing the show wearing stunning deep purple halter neck dress. Feminine, pretty and mesmerizing, this was a truly fantastic show.
Tommy Hilfiger
With almost 60 looks, this was a sow packed full of easy to wear, relaxed garments. Baby doll dresses came in white and beige falling just above the knee, navy was used on slim coats and navy-esque trousers and the classic aviator jacket popped up again (it has been a key piece so far this fashion week.) I espeically loved the pretty peter pan collars and the satin crop top which was worn with a jeweled pair of knicker boxer pants. Even the t-bar heels were paired with delicate frilled socks, adding to the gentle feel of the whole collection.

NYFW: Alex Wang, Altuzarra, DVF, Jason Wu and more!
I absolutely loved this collection! Right when Karlie Kloss opened the show in a classic pink wrap dress all the way through to the end, finishing with Gigi Hadid in a low cut, black maxi dress. It was extremely 70's boho, with models wearing hippy flowers in their hair and lots of loose, sweeping lines and elegant drapery. There was a vibrant mix of colours ranging from summery white paired with leopard print detailing to clashing polka dot patterns on blouses, skirts and dresses. And with the amount of big names walking this runway, DvF nailed Saturday night fever glam once again!
Diane spoke to Vogue after the show, explaining her inspiration for this very colourful collection. "This collection is called Fortuna. And Fortuna is a Roman goddess, she is the goddess of luck. She's barefoot, she's free, she has butterfly wings and is in nature. So it's really a celebration of nature, beauty, freedom and most of all individuality." I couldn't have said it better myself.
Victoria Beckham - Surfs Up
This collection was so un-Victoria Beckham compared to her past shows it was rather incredible. It was fun, interesting and different with amazing digital prints splashed across dresses and tops of surfers riding the waves. The gingham pieces which opened the show were free and loose compared to her more tight silhouettes, and then that gave way to a more, Californian beach style. Victoria explained her dive into the new, unknown world of print after the show. “I don’t wear a lot of print,” she said. “So I was excited by working on it. It’s been a tough week but this is a very liberating collection.” And with rave reviews flooding in, this has certainly been her best show yet.
This guy is just so cool! And can you believe that it has been 10 years since Alexander Wang first stormed onto the fashion scene as the new kid on the block. This spring/summer 2016 collection was just as trendy and urban as it was all those years ago, with plenty of references to hip-hop, the New York streets and urban culture. The sporty shapes and stylish jackets added an edge to this collection, while a mix of more evening and casual pieces was fresh and new. I loved the fringed top that Kasia Struss wore! And you can't beat Wang taking his bow at the end, running down the catwalk, hair flying...
Altuzarra - Grown up Glam
For me, this collection was the definition of Summer. I loved the white, lace dresses and the slouchy off the shoulder style of many of the pieces. Bright pops of colour such as tangerine and red were exciting as were the tasseled bags which were thrown carelessly over the shoulder. However, I don't think it was as strong a collection as last season which really stood out for me.
Jason Wu - Classy and Beautiful
There has been a lot of green so far at NYFW, and Jason Wu was one of the first to show it. The beautiful forest and bottle green shades were tied in with black suits and abstract floral prints, looking elegant and chic. Wu's collections are always slick, even down to the hair, and there are always smart suits and preppy cocktail dresses thrown in too. The frills on the dresses were reminiscent of flamenco style and the flat, chunky sandals were easy and light to take a stroll in.
Cushnie et Ochs - Red carpet Ready
The then relatively unknown Cushnie at Ochs always presented amazing collections back in the day. And now, a firm fixture on the NYFW calendar, this show was feminine, stylish and beautiful in their array of stunning dresses. The pastel colours were especially lovely, coming in everything from baby blue to lemon yellow. Cushnie's dresses are always charged with stamina and sex appeal, and this collection was no different with dresses cut away at the midriff and across the waist too with tight, streamlined shapes, flattering to most body types.
