Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu round up PFW

Louis Vuitton
What Nicholas Ghesquiere has done for Vuitton is amazing. He took off right from where Marc Jacobs left the fashion house and completely made it his own. For any fashion fan it's obvious to spot a Louis Vuitton look a mile away, and credit must go to Nicholas. For fall 2016, it had to be his best show yet. From all the prints, skinny leather trousers and super cool costs to the sporty layering cut out dresses over longer skirts; there was so much going on. I loved the use of red against black and all the vertical line detailing on silk shirts and coats. A fabulous way to finish off fashion week.

Miu Miu
Usually I'm not a huge fan of Miu Miu, Prada's younger more chic sister label. But this show was full of so many amazing pieces that I completely fell in love with it. From the fur cuffed parka work by Kendall Jenner to the beautiful black dresses at the end of the show, there was a whole wardrobe of different choices in so many different colours. Part of the show felt very summery with cotton white mini dresses paired with sandals, yet you had large overcoats which nodded to the winter season. Joan Smalls wore a lovely lemon cardigan and dare I say it, granny skirt! Quite a few of the looks looked as though they had been raised from older grandparents wardrobes!! There was an all star cast - Bella and Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk, Adriana Lima, Lara Stone, Joan Smalls and of course, Kendall. A really great show.

Paris Fashion Week: Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu

Louis Vuitton
Everyone is heralding this as Nicholas Ghesquiere's most triumphant collection yet for Louis Vuitton. I did really enjoy last seasons, fall 2015 show so I wouldn't go as far to say that it's one of my personal favourites, but if definitely is up there with some of the best.

Kicking things off on the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Ghesquiere presented an immaculate collection inspired by video game stars, and the futuristic sci-fi characters we love to play with when gaming. Models walked with hair slightly disheveled with small plaits running along the face, while makeup was video game-tastic! We were brought straight into the world of gaming with the first model, who had bright pink, candyfloss hair and a cool, Harajuku look about her. Working a pink and black leather jacket and a warrior style pair of shorts, she pretty much summed up this collection which was super cool, stylish and extremely want-able as well as wearable. The famous LV logo was printed on jacket sleeves, gloves and trousers while crop tops were paired with mini shorts and silver belts. I loved the use of layering and of course, the handbags. Who could forget the LV bags, which this season came slouchy, boxy, large and small but all with a minimal touch, favoured by Ghesquiere.

There was plenty of colour too, with futuristic prints on biker trousers and jackets, long leather dresses and sleeveless jumpsuits while black was the key colour in which everything was pared down with. The shoes came either pointy in boot styles or more funky, with sandals and flat brogues. I wouldn't say this was a sweet, feminine collection, in fact it was the complete opposite. It was tough, powerful, edgy and very stylish with covet-able pieces which will be instant sell outs across the globe. A fantastic collection from a master of design, Mr Ghesquiere.

Miu Miu
Mrs Prada never disappoints. Fact. Miu Miu, the younger more fashionable sister of the main Prada label, went a very grungy for spring/summer 16, with dark glamour and a sinister mood filling the entire collection. But what a collection it was!

The show opened with the classic over-sized Prada coats we have come to know and love, with large lapels, geometric patterns and giant buttons, layered over grey cigarette trousers. This moved into a more Victorian Gothic look, with high neck lined silk blouses and loose pinafore dresses layered over entire suit looks. Fur stoles in a variety of colours were thrown casually over one shoulder on top of coats and jackets; perhaps Miuucia Prada is forecasting quite a cold spring next year while chunky ankle boot shoes stomped down the runway. But there were lighter pieces too, such as the fluid silk floral dresses and midi skirts. The rest of the collection was just a lot of leather jackets, be it beautiful leather jackets.

Layering was a key factor, especially at the end of the show in which scary, sheer maid dresses were worn over jackets and shirts. It was very Halloween-ish, especially with the dark looks of the models. Each girl sported dark red lipstick and very white faces, with glittering hairbands sitting on top of the head. Head wear has been a big thing at PFW, with Saint Laurent showcasing tiaras and Chanel using white head bands, so watch this space for next season. Overall, this was a great Miu Miu show, with all the classic Prada features that the fans will surely go gaga for. And that's it folks! Fashion weeks are officially over for this year, in what was a fantastic season for spring/summer 2016.

#PFW - Valentino, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton and more...

Miu Miu
Checks, tartan, stripes and colour. These were the main ingreidents of the Miu Miu show today. It was preppy and cute, complete with peter pan collars over long sleeved jumpers and large dangly earrings with matching flowery necklaces. I loved the  pops of animal print colour, from leopard, snake and tiger all making an appearence. Knee length skirts added a touch of 50's glam as did the cinched in waists. Very Miuccia Prada, if you know what I mean?

Louis Vuitton
At first I was sceptical of Nicholas Ghesquiere and his appointment as creaitve director at Louis Vuitton. But a couple of seasons in and he is really starting to blossum into the amazing designer he was at Balenciaga. This season, with the help of Freja Beha-Ericson who opened the show, there were plenty of luxe fur coats, stylish black and white suits, leather coats with a hint of 60's and tweed suits. It was elegant and crisp, with a youthfull touch. A great way to end PFW.

Alexander McQueen
There was a lot of hype surrounding this collection, and it was clear to see why. Sarah Burton played with historical references to French queen Marie Antoinette (check out the amazing hair!) mixed with a modern cool. I thought the frilly lace dresses were pretty and feminine with obvious similarities to the McQueen of old. Very romantic and soft with a touch of tough girl chic.

Valentino
The big news of this show was Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson taking to the runway as their characters from cult comedy 'Zoolander.' Even Anna Wintour got in on the fun, posing with the two actors after the show. Now in regards to the actual Valentino collection, it was monochromatic, elegant and beautiful. It was angelic with high necklines and intricate lace patterns on white skirts while the transparent squares of material flashed just enough of skin to remain classy and sophisticated. Amazing.

Saint Laurent
I decided to include this collection not because I particularly liked it, but because it is Saint Laurent and I feel a moral duty to the brand to honour it. For the past couple of season, womenswear designer Hedi Slimane has brought his rock chick to life on the YSL catwalk, with ripped tights, daring mini dresses, smudged make up and leather biker jackets. For fall, it was this same theme again but with a few different twists, such as the multi-coloured fur coats. It would be nice to see Slimane dip into Laurents' rich history and explore a different dynamic of the house.

Stella McCartney
With a proud Sir Paul McCartney sitting on the front row (along with rapper Kanye West) the fall 2015 Stella McCartney collection was classic and structured. The designer explored a lot with knitwear, tying it in loops, a-symmetric styles, around the head like a hood... etc. While her limited use of white, grey and beige were wintery and very cool. There were some pretty heavy fur coats, yeti style but overall a lot of clean lines and sweetheart necklines - very Stella McCartney.

Giambattista Valli
You can always rely on this fashion house to provide a sense of wonder and beauty, similar to Elie Saab did last week. Giambattista Valli delivered a retro, 60's inspired show with a lot of geometric prints and colourful stripes. There were lace mini skirts paired with knee high boots and long sleeve blouses and a lot of layers piled on top of each other such as roll necks, dresses and tops. There was a lot of clashing patterns, yet Valli pulled this rather messy technique off effortlessly with their straight, minimal lines and simple tailoring.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2014

BREAKING NEWS: MARC JACOBS LEAVES LOUIS VUITTON.

Will Jacobs stay, or will he leave? Will he, won't he? These were the continous questions pacing through many minds today at the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week. Well, it has been confirmed... Jacobs has said his final adeiu at Louis Vuitton, after 16 wonderful years as creative director of the iconic fashion house. There were rumours circulating that Jacobs wanted to leave to focus on his own fashion line, and today those rumours were confirmed. One things for sure, he'll be surely missed at LV by his fans and enemies alike, as no one designs like Marc. (The next designer at Vuitton has some seriously big shoes to fill!) In those 16 wonderful years at Louis Vuitton, Jacobs updated this old fashion house and planted it firmly on the fashion radar, soon becoming a firm favourite at Paris fashion week.

Every season, we would wait in suspense for what fabulous offering Jacobs would conjure up for us, and every time we were suprised, delighted and passionatly in love with what we saw. Who remembers the huge rotating carosal for spring summer 2012, where the gorgeous Kate Moss closed the show in a beautiful lace dress? Or the fall collection where a real steam train was part of the set and each model had their own porter to carry their expensive Louis Vuitton luggage. We've had ornate catwalks and baroque lifts carrying scantily clad models wrapped in fur and knee high boots, 1960's prints and elevators carrying models up and down the runway. Its been exciting and fun, but the journey has to end sometime, and for Jacobs the time is now... Goodbye and good luck!
