R.I.P Lauren Bacall

Is there any good news at the moment? First we hear of the tragic suicide of actor Robin Williams and now it has been reported that iconic movie star Lauren Bacall has sadly passed away at the age of 89. As my readers know, I am a huge lover of the famous Golden Age of Hollywood and the stars it produced so to hear of a Bacall's death is extremely heart breaking as hardly any actors of that era remain with us. Bacall was beautiful and talented, known for her distinctive husky voice and smouldering looks, as well as her high profile marriage to Humphry Bogart.

Starring in movies such as 'How to marry a millionaire,' 'To have and to have not' and 'The Big Sleep,' Bacall always dazzled on screen and was different to her female contemporaries of the time. She was not curvy, with platinum blonde hair or self seeking and instead captivated audiences with her charm. She shared the screen with names such as Gregory Peck, Barbara Striesand, Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable and of course, with her husband Bogart whom she had two children with and remained married until his death in 1954. She was a woman who radiated goodness and she will go down in history as one of the Hollywood Greats. R.I.P Lauren Bacall. X
